Scent Design adds Gift Certificates to product line
Topsfield, MA March 20, 2007 -- Technology and the internet are constantly taking product customization to whole new levels and Scent Design (www.scentdesign.net), the 100% online custom fragrance designing web portal, has added Gift Certificates to its unique products.
Designing a one-of-a-kind fragrance or custom perfume is an extremely personal project. Emotions tied to individual scents are as varied as the blends one can come up with at Scent Design. Now, giving someone else the gift of custom perfume creation is possible.
“You no longer need to worry about what another person likes or doesn’t like if you want to give a gift to them” says Scent Design president Stephen Jackson, “it’s an obvious next step for us to give customers the ability to pass on the fun they’ve had creating their own fragrances to someone else.”
Newcomers to Scent Design will find each fragrance has a detailed description available, as well as a variety of tested tips and suggestions for use when blending. The fragrance recipes and blends pages now contain nearly 100 customer created mixtures.
“We are really excited about how quickly people have taken to this idea. Shocked, really,” says Jackson. “There are an incredible amount of people out there who love this whole process, and to watch totally new recipes and blends come in all the time is just phenomenal.”

Ah, the magic of Christmas morning -- waking up wide-eyed and racing down the stairs to find that Santa somehow brought everything on your list. But sometimes there seems to be a miscommunication between home and the North Pole. Instead of PlayStation 3 and a new iPod under the tree, there are sequined sweaters and a cheese log.
Those who find themselves with lackluster loot need not throw themselves onto the yule log just yet. A guaranteed great gift awaits at Topsfield-based ScentDesign.net.
At the site, users can customize their own perfume and cologne from a list of more than 50 fragrances including musk, vanilla, and gardenia. Depending on the size (1-ounce bottles for $20, 1/3-ounce bottles for $10), shoppers can mix three to five ingredients, doubling up on a fragrance to shift the ratio. For stronger smells, there's even an option to add a touch of a particularly pungent perfume.
An online scent shop may seem strange without a scratch-and-sniff screen. But ScentDesign.net offers detailed descriptions of base fragrances, noting which ones are stronger than others and suggesting some combos. There is also a list of popular fragrances other customers have assembled.
As we can attest after many close encounters on the T, when it comes to perfume, what may smell great to one person could send another running toward the nearest open window. With that in mind, the site also has a liberal return policy to help ensure customers end up with the perfect perfume.
That way, no matter how many fruitcakes await you today, at least you'll know you smell fabulous.

ScentDesign.net Launches Online Custom Fragrance Creation
Imagine. Create. Become.
Personalized Perfume Via The First Fully Functional Online Fragrance Bar.
Topsfield, Mass. -- Technology continues to drive product customization to whole new levels with the launch of ScentDesign.net. The custom fragrance designing Web portal allows women and men to create their own, one of a kind, individual perfume oil.
With as many as 50 commonly recognized base fragrances, consumers are able to blend as many as 10 million different and distinctly individual scents.
“Consumers expect to have complete control of their world today, and demand to be empowered to choose and create the products that best fit their tastes, “ said Stephen Jackson, ScentDesign.net’s President. “ScentDesign allows our customers to create personal products that are limited only by their imagination. We have a continually growing list of popular blends that can provide a baseline or a place to start, or you can simply imagine and create your own scent from scratch.”
Acknowledging that an online fragrance bar – in which consumers are blending fragrances without direct contact to the ingredients – is a departure from typical fragrance shopping, each base fragrance is described in detail and a variety of tips and suggestions for successful fragrance creation are provided on the site.
Additionally, the site provides a regularly updated list of descriptions and recipes created by other customers, highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of different fragrance mixtures.
“Shared customer creativity is an extraordinarily powerful thing,” said Jackson. “Because this is an atypical way of creating and shopping for fragrance, it lets consumers expand their imagination and focus on elements and smells they know they love. It allows them to take creative chances and then see and smell the benefits of their own inventiveness.”
